vaseline lip therapy vs maybelline baby lips quick review

recently i've tried out two different lip products to hydrate my lips for the spring as the sun was coming out so i needed something to protect it. The two lip products i got my hands on were Maybelline Baby Lips - Menthol and Vaseline Lip Therapy SPF 15

i'll start of with Maybelline Baby Lips in Menthol 01

claims:
the Baby Lips range comes in four unique formulas and fragrances with added SPF 20 (yes!) to give you baby soft lips. Each formula has its different properties and botanical cellular repair concentrate to moisturise lips for full 8 hours and decrease fine lines.

review:
when i first put the lip balm on it feels oh so refreshing with the minty cooling feel on the lips. it has a menthol scent mixed with the usual lip balm scent ( not for those who are sensitive with products with fragrance ) which i'm not very fond of. This lip balm didn't live up to my expectations as it dries out pretty quickly on the lips.. i'd say around 30 minutes - 1 hour, DEFINITELY not 8 hours. the packaging is very cute with the lime green and aqua colours which can be used by both males and females! the thing i like about it most is it gives a slight shine to my lips without it being greasy at all.

overall:
after using it, i didn't see any dramatic difference to my lips and some dead skin was still there so i still had to peel it off ( yes, i know :/ ) as opposed to the nivea hydrating lip balm. the scent is a bit distracting but once it's on the lips it just smelt like menthol minus the chemically lip balm smell :)
overall i'd give it a 4.5/10

next up is the vaseline lip therapy SPF15

claims:
this little product claims to protect and moisturise lips from the sun's harmful rays with its SPF 15. the other catch is the travel size retro look tin that fits easily into any pocket and bag to take anywhere. it also includes shea butter.

review:
lets talk about the packaging. the first time i tried opening this metal tin, it took me forever until i gave it to my friend with smaller hands and she opened it like a boss (hahaa). you have to be careful everytime you close the tin, you don't have petroleum jelly fingers or it will grease up the tin and make it very VERY hard to open. make sure the side of the tin is clean as well. ok, now to the product. when you undo the lid, there lies a super smooth, mint surface which is very refreshing to see. the texture is very smooth but not super greasy and slides onto your lips in ease. when you apply the product, you can feel it nourishing your lips already and it WILL leave your lips very smooth and hydrated. vaseline lip therapy is also good for those who are sensitive to fragrant products.. there is only a faint petroleum jelly smell but that's only if you sniff hard :)

overall:
i was really impressed with this product! it left my lips really soft and smooth overnight and does what it claimed to do. the only downfall is the metal tin is really REALLY annoying to take off and it could be unhygienic to some.
i'd give it a 8.5/10 (just because i don't like the packaging)
